The Practice has been involved with the University of Southampton Science Park continuously since 1999. The work has ranged from designing buildings and interior fit-outs to the provision of consultancy advice.
The project brief called for flexible business accommodation of 3,000 square metres, capable of being sub-divided into units of varying sizes. The internal area of the building has been designed so it can be subdivided into spaces from 50 square metres upwards and the building layout facilitates the possibility of combining units to increase areas should this be required in the future as businesses expand. There is parking to both sides of the building and the entrances can be readily seen when approaching from either direction.
The plan form is simple, with a central entrance containing communal facilities plus wings either side containing the lettable space.
The chosen materials of brick, glass and silver colour metal panels are hard wearing and require minimal maintenance.
