The Basepoint Business Centre provides small scale and start-up accommodation for up to 80 fledgling businesses. In addition to working spaces it offers social and support facilities.
The buildings that comprise the campus are located along the site perimeter to create a courtyard format which engenders a spirit of community amongst the occupiers whilst adding to their security by informal supervision.
The buildings are two and three storeys tall, in two separate blocks. The main reception is in the three-storey block which faces the site's main entrance. It contains all of the business support and social facilities, together with an external terrace overlooking a tree-lined bridleway. It also includes variously sized offices including some to the ground floor that benefit from their own external entrance.
The second block includes the workshop units together with the balance of the office units. To offer a variety of accommodation, some of the offices are externally accessed along a walkway above the workshops.
The buildings are clad in buff brick to provide a robust ground floor with light grey metal panels above to provide a relaxed elevation to the courtyard and also to minimise maintenance. The roofs are overlapping mono-pitches which enable light to filter through to the corridors below via clerestory windows.
