The scheme comprises a new 64 place day nursery built adjacent a Business Park and along a main road.

The building reflects the adjacent existing farm buildings and is traditional in form and finish which was a requirement of the local authority. The main two storey body of the building reflects the local black timber clad barns and contain the office, kitchen and ancillary spaces at ground floor level, with the Baby Room and staff rooms to the first floor.

The Toddlers, Transition and Kindergarten are all located on the ground floor and open up directly to the garden / play space. They are accommodated in a brick clad, single storey building contained beneath a series of pitched roofs abutting the two storey building. It has the appearance as a more recent extensions with simpler detailing to give the impression that the building has evolved over time.

A mature oak tree dominates the centre of the play space and impacted upon the siting of the Nursery. It benefits the nursery by providing shade as well as a strong visual presence and also by mitigating the impact of the adjacent main road as well as the view from the main road, permitting only angled glimpses between undergrowth and canopy.
