Northbrook is the oldest building within the Peter Symonds College campus. It dates from the late nineteenth century when it housed the Boys’ Grammar School which eventually became the college as it is today.
Originally built round three sides of a courtyard, the building has been extended and modified on a number of occasions to reflect its changing role within the college estate.
The Practice have undertaken many projects within the building. Following completion of a new ‘Learning Resource Centre’, the library was relocated out of Northbrook and The Practice was appointed to design the refurbishment and conversion of the old library space into the administrative heart of the college, including the provision of a new reception facility and social space for the staff.
Further refurbishment and conversion works have followed including the complete re-roofing of the building whilst remaining fully operational, an extension to accommodate the expansion of the Facilities Management Department and upgrading of the various student services, teaching and toilet facilities.
